We were engaged to design a welcome monument for the town of Pati which would reflect its aspired status as a region maintaining its roots in fishing and agriculture, yet one that embraces progress and technology. Located on a prominent site on the main route to the city from the west, a bandeng fish monument was chosen as an icon the region. The dynamic shape of the fish symbolises the dynamic nature of the town.  The scales of the fish, which are movable by the wind, further strengthen this image. The use of metal as material signifies the city's embrace of technological advancement. The sculptural fish is put in the a landcaped ground incorporating cascading lawns, water feature and fountain symbolising the fertile landscape of Pati.
